NVH Performance / Engine Power Impact Evaluation
Tail Pipe Noise / Back Pressure / Volumetric Efficiency Evaluation
As sounds of sports car is exciting and sounds of luxury car is relaxing, tail pipe noise has important role in sensitivity field to impress the individual characteristic of cars. And pressure behavior inside exhaust pipes has a large impact on practical performance such as engine power characteristic and fuel consumption rate. In order to balance these two aspects at high level, we evaluate a total system including engines.

Radiation Noise Evaluation
Radiation noise is also one of important evaluation items associated with merchantability in sensitivity field. We need to figure out noise and vibration quantitatively to develop product effectively. Recently, it becomes difficult to control radiation noise because the need for weight saving which is trend of automobiles is increasing and thin-wall and flatness of muffler for high efficiency packaging is required. Analyzing behavior of possible vibration and noise in detail by vibration and sound simulation, we can design in challenging area.

Vibration Property EvaluationEngine vibration is sometimes transmitted inside a car through support parts of exhaust systems and generates muffled noise. In order to prevent excessive transmission of vibration inside a car, we quantitatively analyze vibration behavior and transmission characteristics by frequency response simulation. It allows us to figure out potential problems and to take measures. |

Emission Impact
Gas Flow Evaluation
As a part of emission gas purification system, hot end of exhaust system has important role to meet strict emission regulation. O2 sensor must be located where gases exhausted from each cylinder are equally sensed. And, exhaust gas must be distributed equally to the end face of a catalyst. CFD simulation allows us to study part shapes and sensor location in visual and quantitative.

Durability Performance
Durability Evaluation
Since exhaust system is subjected external forces repeatedly with vibration from an engine and/or grounds, evaluation of fatigue is necessary. We calculate a stress with frequency stress analysis inputting engine and ground vibrations and evaluate strength using S-N data from our database.

Heat Resistance Evaluation
Since a hot end is a part exposed to hardest environment, for example, receiving high temperature gas directly exhausted from an engine, it is most difficult to develop considering durability. Using heat elastic-plastic simulation, we calculate strains which generated by repeating heating/cooling and evaluate duration of life.
